What is Obesity?

Canine obesity occurs when a dog weighs 10-20% more than their ideal body weight. It results from overfeeding, lack of exercise, or medical conditions. Obesity increases risks of diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, and shorter lifespan. Treatment involves calorie-controlled diet, increased exercise, regular weigh-ins, and addressing underlying health issues. Weight loss should be gradual under veterinary supervision.
