What is Kidney Disease?

Kidney disease in dogs occurs when kidneys lose their ability to filter waste and maintain fluid balance. Symptoms include increased thirst and urination, decreased appetite, weight loss, vomiting, and lethargy. Causes range from aging to infections and toxins. Treatment involves special kidney diets, fluid therapy, medications to manage symptoms, and regular blood work monitoring. Early detection and management can slow progression.
